Hold the onions please

I hereby declare my home onion-free. I realize they may be a very important ingredient in many recipes. They may be a tasty tenderizer for meat. And they may taste delicious when cooked slowly to caramelized perfection. That's just not good enough reason to keep them around. You see, ever since this tiny baby took residence inside my belly, the smell of onions makes me want to toss my cookies. So, in order to keep the inside of my stomach inside my body where it belongs, I am banning onions from my home until further notice. I realize this will be difficult because most recipes call for onions. I will either have to omit them or find recipes that do not call for onions. The latter is proving quite difficult. Don't worry, I will prevail!

Thank-you for your cooperation!

Hilarious! I am usually the same about onions (& garlic) in the beginning - what about cravings? I remember when Jennifer and I were both due for our first and we both craved pickles so much that we polished off a whole jar in one sitting!!! Yikes!

Easy enough to just eliminate them! I hate onions unless they are chopped really tiny and blended in, or in certain circumstances for flavoring, but usually when a recipe calls for a large onion, I skimp it down to a small one...

Try onion powder or onion flakes for substitution... The smell is certainly not as strong as the real thing! Heidi

I agree with Heidi, use the powder in the meantime. It'll still help a little with the flavor even if it's not the same. But, at least you might be able to handle it!

Haha! I totally remember sitting at my kitchen table with Sar and polishing off that jar of pickles with her.
