Chocolate Revel Bars

I made these about a month ago, and we're still slowly trying to get rid of them...

...

Actually, I made them yesterday.

We have NOT had company.

What can I say, my baby has a sweet tooth! ;)

I {heart} washing machines...

...when they work.

Now, I'm not one to complain (or am I?) but...I really don't like to rinse my clothes by hand. It is hard work and my belly kind of gets in the way when I try to lean over the bathtub!

Our washer is broken (the one shared by everyone in this apartment building). When I went to put my clothes in, it was on the spin cycle, I didn't realize until I closed the lid to put my quarters in. Sooo, I put in enough quarters for my wash, unsure of what else to do. It went straight to the rinse cycle. Still not sure of what to do, I just let it go and figured I'd see how clean/rinsed they were when it was finished.

Over an hour later...(keep in mind, the complete cycle usually takes about half an hour) it was still on the rinse cycle! But the water was kind of cloudy like there was still detergent in it. So I had to wring out all of my clothes by hand. After two trips up the stairs all of my clothes were in the tub. (I am SO glad I chose today to scrub the tub!)

All that rinsing, wringing, and sore back later, and I now have a wind tunnel in our spare bedroom thanks to both fans.

Maybe they'll be dry within a week...

Turkey Noodle Soup

I made some delicious turkey noodle soup today. Jeff was pretty impressed since it was all made from scratch. As scratchy as I could make it anyway. I even made the noodles! (Using the recipe from Pioneer Woman's blog.)

I figured I'd put it on here if anyone is interested. I kinda sorta just threw it together so bear with me here!

Turkey/chicken Noodle Soup

Lots of water
Bony chicken or turkey pieces (I only happened to have 2 drumsticks that were already cooked, raw would be better)
Meaty chicken or turkey pieces
3-4 carrots
3-4 celery stalks
1 onion
2-3 bay leaves
1/4 to 1/2 tsp each of
sage
thyme
basil
(I wasn't sure which to use so I just put them all) :)
1 Tbsp parsley
salt and pepper to taste

Cut veggies into large pieces. Note: I like to scrub carrots rather than peeling them to keep all those vitamins where they belong! Add veggies, bony turkey/chicken pieces, bay leaves and seasonings. Bring to a boil, simmer for at least an hour. Remove bony pieces and bay leaves. Discard bay leaves. Chop veggies to desired size. Add meaty pieces and simmer until cooked through. Add chopped veggies.

From here, you could either use store-bought egg noodles or make your own. (I promise, it's easy!!) I boiled the noodles separately and stirred them into each bowl rather than adding them to the pot.

Enjoy!

I should add that all of my turkey was precooked from a previous meal. I just added the frozen, cooked turkey at the end and simmered til it was heated through. It still tasted great! In fact...I think I could eat another bowl now, we ate at 4! (It's now 11:30!!)

Sweet Baby Girl

I found this little cutie when I was loading pictures onto my computer:

Apparently that was the only time I pulled the camera out downstate...I need to work on that!

(BTW, this is Paul and Amanda's Kendall)

If you see me

Appearing to have a full body spasm...

Just know, I don't have a twitch. There's this living being inside of me that won't sit still.

Lookie Here!

This landed on my doorstep this morning:

Now, I know that may not be very exciting to some of you, but it made this coupon queen's day! And the best part, it was a complete surprise, I don't even remember signing up for it! (Not that surprising, I sign up for lots of free stuff!)

Home Again

The past weekend found us downstate yet again. We were able to see all of both sides of the family somehow, although with some it was a longer than others. (I think I saw Dave for a total of 20 minutes.)

And again, I heard a few more people mention that they read my blog. Now if I could just get these people to comment ON HERE. I'm so curious to see all who pay attention to me!

That's all for now, just wanted you all to know that I was not intentionally taking a break from blogging. (We just returned home last night.)

This and That

Only 10 more weeks until I get to meet my baby!

I had a dream the other night that my baby was choking on something. I thought it was just mucous as first and was able to get that up but then a piece of a quesadilla came out!! (Sorry if that grossed you out.) It scared the heck out of me! I think a little kid had been trying to feed the baby but it was only a few weeks old. It got me thinking about parents with older kids, do things like that ever happen?

I snagged a few *free* boys tees at a garage sale this weekend (thanks again Lisa). I participated in a garage sale myself this weekend at Amy's house (thanks again Amy!) and was disappointed to see that all of her baby girl clothes that she was selling were the wrong seasons for my baby. Bummer. Guess I still have the rest of the summer! (But 10 weeks doesn't sound like a very long time does it?)

Jeff and I will be heading downstate this weekend for the last time until the baby arrives. We need to leave as soon as he returns from work on Saturday morning (think 3am) to make it in time for his sister's graduation party Saturday afternoon. (And hopefully sneak in a nap before then!) We'll be there until Tuesday, the usual "weekend trip" for us.

I'm off to make some pancakes now that the batter is done rising! (No, that was not a typo.)

And I do realize that it's 12 noon. Time to wake my husband as well...
