I never did finish that 'something' that I plan to give away to one of you, I just got too busy with everything before we flew away. And now we're in Texas so I can't exactly be working on it now! (Do they even allow sewing needles on airplanes??) I'm close to finishing, I should be able to get it done before we go home. We'll be downstate (or up north?) for a day or two before heading back home once we return from Texas.
Speaking of Texas, it took us 10 hours to get from my Mom and Dad's house to Jeff's Aunt and Uncle's house in Houston. The flight was 3 hours direct from Detroit to Houston! We had a few trials along the way! We were planning on flying American since that is the company Jeff works for and therefore the company that we get the great deal through but all flights for Thursday were overbooked. I didn't want to go to the airport, sit all day, and come back home. (We fly standby.) What a waste of time. So, I was sitting around Thursday morning with the mindset that we wouldn't be leaving until the following day. Then, around 10 o'clock, Jeff turns to me (hair undone and still in jeans), "are you ready to go?" He found a flight through Delta that was leaving at noon. He gets deals with that airline because they also operate in the same airport where he works. All I could think, and vocalize, was 'we are supposed to be at the airport 2 hours before our flight leaves and we are leaving the house 2 hours before it leaves!' We must be crazy. I didn't think we would make it. And we didn't. We tried, we really did. Running across the airport with all our carry-on luggage, diaper bag, purse, stroller, and car seat. We missed the flight be mere minutes. We checked in 15 minutes before it pulled out. If you are familiar with the airport in Detroit you'll know about the underground walkways to get to the other side of the terminals. Our flight was on the other side.
Jeff spoke with one of the ladies at the counter and figured out that there was another flight leaving around 3:15, direct to Houston. We were able to get on that one, and first class no less! Although, the thought of flying first class with Adrian, who had never flown before, was a little nerve wracking. He did great. He didn't sleep very well, he's not used to sleeping in my arms so it took him half the flight to get to sleep but he was pretty happy despite his exhaustion. The flight attendant was talking to him and picked him up and one point and starting walking down the aisle with him. As Jeff said "well, we're on a plane, there's really nowhere that she can go!" Needless to say, I was very relieved that he wasn't bothered by the flight!
We finally landed in Houston and called Jeff's uncle to let him know we had landed. He was stuck in traffic so it would be a few minutes before he arrived. It was a beautiful day so standing outside to wait wasn't cause for complaint. Stan picked us up, and as we were driving down the roadway that led out of the airport, his suburban broke down. We waited for a tow and got a ride to the rental car place in the airport to rent another vehicle. By the time that was all figured out, the rest of Jeff's family had landed so we went back to pick them up. We finally made it to his aunt and uncle's house sometime after 8. What a day! But, we made it and today the sun is shining. Life is good!

Quick Update
Jeff is working (back home) he will be coming back down today or tomorrow, I'm still waiting to talk to him.
Adrian is sleeping, he's having fun crawling all over the place, chasing the dog, and learning to pull himself to his knees.
I'm working on a little something to give away to someone! I might be talking about you! I'm going so slowly and learning so much about things that I've never really done before but sort of kind of have. Are you curious? Stay tuned! I'm hoping to finish and post in a few days!

The Sun is Shining
The birds are chirping and the bees are buzzing. *sigh* I don't want to go home yet. Good thing I still have a while to stay! 13 days to be exact. 5 of which will be spent in Texas. I feel like a kid without a care in the world except how the heck we're going to pack for the two of us and one sweet little dude and use only carry-on luggage. Oh man.
I hope you're enjoying this beautiful weather more than House Mouse Dan. (Who is surfing the net and watching videos from the web-cam.)

The Completed Project (Maybe?)
I finished that shirt, finally! If I had Jeff for a day I could have had it done much sooner but that guy hasn't had very many days off work lately! (I'm not complaining by any means, we are feeling very fortunate for that fact!) My dearest Adrian requires my attention from time to time and he also happens to sleep in my "craft room" so I get kicked out every few hours. Here it is:
I'm thinking about adding stitching, a bunch of lines following the rest of the neckline on the left (right side if you are wearing it) and then below the flowers that go down in the center. I wish I could draw lines on it so you could see what I was talking about. I don't think I have a program to do that. But I've been known to be wrong a time or two. (Or 70.)
What do you think? Stitch the lines or leave it as is??
I had to add another random little accent because I'm me:
I was thinking of putting this in the shop but because the flowers are already fraying so much, I'm nervous to do that. Unfortunately for me, it's too small so I don't even get to wear it! Maybe I'll convince one of my little sisters to take it...
Either way, be looking for something similar in the future! (Don't worry, I'll let you know when it arrives!)
So what do you think? Add the stitching or no? Anybody? Anybody? Tell me what you think!
Reality, I'm checking out. I'll see you next month! (Tomorrow is the last day of this month that I will be seeing the U.P. We'll be taking our computer so I'll still be posting but it may not be as regular as it's been lately!)

7 months
I had a fast-paced photoshoot with Adrian yesterday, that boy does not like to sit still! I'm just glad he was happy!
Doggone drool! I'm sure I could PhotoShop it out but, oh wait, I don't have PhotoShop. So we tried again later once it dried. This is the best shot I was able to get on account of his wiggling and crawling and wanting to eat the fabric:
I suppose it would have been easier if I had more than a 2x2 foot space on my bed to get decent light!

Book Recommendation
If you are interested in natural and organic eating, I suggest you read the book In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan. It was a very interesting read--for myself anyways, someone who is slowly making the switch to whole and organic foods.
I have to tell you that just a few short years ago (like maybe 2) I thought anything "natural" or "organic" was all bogus but I slowly started learning about it and now I realize that it's not so bogus after all! We try to buy natural and organic whenever possible. Of course, we can't eat completely organic right now because it does cost a lot more (something that I can understand and appreciate now as I continue to learn) but we'll get there someday! One of the things I look forward to most when we buy a house is having our own vegetable garden. After tasting fresh from the garden produce at my Mom and Dad's, you just can't beat that!

I nearly forgot!
Today is my 3 year blogiversary! Happy Blogiversary to me!
When I first decided to start one of these blog things, I had no idea what I was doing. Okay, maybe I still don't! I asked my little sister Jeanie what I should call it and she came up with the name "Heidi's World." At first, I figured my family would be the only ones to read it, and to this day they are the only ones I can count on to keep coming back. ;) I was so glad to have it (and I hope they were too!) when Jeff and I headed north to begin the rest of our lives. It is a great way to keep them all informed about our adventures in this distant land.
Now, I have a giveaway for you, somewhere. It must be downstate. Luckily, we're headed that way in a few days so I'll be sure to let you know when I find it. (BTW, I'll be down there for nearly two weeks so don't expect it right away!)

If I know one thing...
It's that this boy loves pears and oatmeal.
I couldn't shovel it in fast enough! So sorry, my hand was hiding his mouth, the little piggie! :)

Cream Cheese and Raspberry Jam or Peanut Butter and Honey?
My Mom eats her bagels with cream cheese and raspberry jam (or she used to, I don't know if she still does). I used to think it sounded gross until a few days ago when I had an "Aha!" moment and thought, "it probably tastes like cheesecake!" And it does. Not nearly as good of course but since I finally tried it, I can't stop eating my bagels that way! My homemade whole wheat bagels that is. Mmmm...so good. Except for the fact that I all but completely mutilated them when I took them out of the boiling water. Another "Aha!" moment. Man, where has my brain been this week!? I was taking them out with tongs rather than the "slotted spoon" that was called for.
I didn't get a chance to work on that shirt today (whatever that means), hopefully I'll get to it tomorrow!

A work in progress
I can't wait to show you the final product just as soon as I finish! (Here's hoping it turns out...)

Just a list to let you know
- Yesterday was so nice. I forget sometimes that there is life without the Internet.
- I got a lot more accomplished than I normally do in a day and it still didn't seem like enough.
- I'm working on putting designs on plain t-shirts, I can't wait to show you some finished projects!
- My blogiversary is coming fast and I would love to do a giveaway I just haven't come up with anything yet! It might be late, but I'll do something, I promise! (And I mean it this time)
- I am so happy being a stay-at-home mom/housewife. I think my single friends get a chuckle out of how domesticated I can be sometimes but this is really what a was put on this earth to do! I love it!
- We're have Zuppa Toscana for supper tonight (I always say supper, not dinner, do you? Dinner sounds so fancy to me.), Jennifer's recipe from the Magnolia Lane cookbook.
- I got a haircut. I'll have to show you pictures one of these days!
- Adrian is crawling like crazy, I found him behind the lazy boy for the first time, for some reason it struck me as funny. (I keep trying to get a video of him to post but every time I go to view it on my camera I delete it.)
- He waved today. I was showing him buh-bye and he squeezed his little hand opened and closed.
- Jeff bought a truck (I can't remember if I mentioned that) so we finally have two vehicles! It's been so nice already, I haven't been running every day but it's awesome to get out when I need to!

March 3
Adrian is crawling. He's slow and awkward but he's doing it. I just love to watch, it's the sweetest thing!
I'm unplugging myself from the computer tomorrow, I'm hoping to get something accomplished. Cleaning or crafting or both, we'll see what I feel the most motivated to do!
